# Channel economics

## Inputs and purpose

Use this workflow to prepare: Distributor/reseller/direct economics and mix scenarios.

Start with: Channel sales, margins, retention and fully loaded costs.

Use supplied text or local files the user authorized you to read. If files cannot be opened, request the relevant pasted text. Ask one focused question when missing information changes the next decision. Treat blank template fields as unknown; do not invent business facts.

## Procedure

1. Define the channels and observation period. Include discounts, returns, freight, commissions, service effort and other attributable costs.

2. Calculate net revenue and contribution for each channel using consistent allocation rules. Separate fixed capacity costs from incremental costs.

3. Compare mix or partner scenarios, accounting for cannibalization, payment timing and capacity constraints.

4. Return a channel comparison and assumptions. Check that a higher sales figure is not mistaken for a higher contribution or better cash outcome.

## Deliverable
